I．Information about interpretation
and tourist guide | | |
1. All-level service system of interpretation and tourist guide:
Composed
of full time interpretation, part-time expert interpretation, "golden week
of tour" temporary interpretation, and holiday compulsory interpretation.
This kind of interpretation system can suit different need of tourist. In time
of more tourists, this may satisfy the need of all tourists.
Full time
interpretation: in open time of the museum, there are 24 commentators at any moment,
affording Chinese, English, and Japanese interpretation service for tourist. The
fee for Chinese interpretation is RMB 60.00, foreign language interpretation RMB
120.00.
Expert interpretation (part time): for special need, tourist
can contact part time expert interpretation service. Now, there are 12 expert
Commentators, 1 doctor, 9 masters, and 2 bachelors, and all have the title of
assistant research. Their research aspects are history of Qin and Han dynasties,
archeology of Shang, Zhou, Qin and Han dynasties, history of Sui and Tang dynasties,
ceremony of Han and Tang dynasties, and so on. The fee for expert interpretation
is decided by the requirement, and must be reserved before. The reserving phone

Temporary interpretation: during the "gold
week of tour", to meet the increasing requirement of tourists, we specially
choose some well-experienced, qualified and excellent in all aspects college students
from the compulsory commentators. After strict training, they can make up the
lack of full time commentators.
Compulsory interpretation: in holidays
of tour midseason (April to October), tourist can share compulsory interpretation
service provided by volunteers in exhibition halls. At present, 67 compulsory
commentators are enrolled, most of whom are college students from Xi'an College
of Engineering and Technology, College of Culture and Museology of Northwest University,
Northwest Polytechnical University and other universities. Some of them are staffs
from Bank of China.
2. How to find interpretation and tourist guide
service?
When into the museum, you can contact interpretation service
with Department of Propagandizing & Instructing. If needed, you can make reservation

3. Applying procedure
for compulsory commentators
If you would like to be volunteer of the
museum and become compulsory commentator, you may sign up by heading for or through
phone in Department of Propagandizing & Instructing at any time. Signing up
phone: 86-29-85266154 Linkman: Ms Yang Every November in tour off-season, Department
of Propagandizing & Instructing may arrange examination, training, and enrolment.
The period of validity for enrolment is one year. Department of Propagandizing
& Instructing of the museum may arrange volunteers to comment according to
requirement.
II. Activities of patriotism
instruction
Shaanxi History Museum is one of the first
100 patriotism instruction base issued by Ministry of Central Propaganda. To carrying
out patriotism instruction to the youth is one of the basic functions of the museum,
and also the important part of our daily work. In patriotism instruction, the
museum has done much practical work, and made it become "second class for
the youth."
Signing instructing agreement
To let more youth into the museum, and make it become "second class
for the youth", the museum had signed agreements of building patriotism instruction
base together with 109 middle schools of Yanta District, and established relationship
with Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northwest University, Northwest Polytechnical
University, Shaanxi Normal University, Chang'an University, Xi'an Political College
and other universities, and implemented preferential ticket price and no commenting
fee for these units.
Editing, making, and publishing patriotism instruction
works
1. Aiming at different tourists, we successively
published three commenting drafts for primary school students, middle school students,
and college students; participated the work of Hall in Center, Storied Buildings
in Corners of the 100 Patriotism Base Series of Encyclopedia Press of China, and
Shaanxi History Museum of Shaanxi Tourism Memory Series of Shaanxi Tourism Press.

Instruction TV Series Prompting Forever, and special program Tourism Festival
of Silk Way by Hong Kong Phoenix TV Chinese; holding programs of "Historical
Relic Knowledge Contest" and "Love Our Relics" with Green Apple
Column of Department of the Youth of Shaanxi TV; holding program of "Guiding
You Visiting Shaanxi History Museum" with Shaanxi Economic Broadcast Station.
III．Carrying out various patriotism instruction
activities with
new ideas
1. Combing patriotism
instruction with hope project
From the beginning of 1994 to June 1997,
the museum established cooperative relationship with poor mountain area Lantian
Middle School to "build patriotism instruction base." Through contributing
and aiding, free visit, subject lecture, home visit and other methods, the museum
carried out effective instructing activities, won appraises from the society and
organizations, and was evaluated as action of boundless beneficence by the news.
2. Connecting patriotism instruction with Hong Kong's return of homeland
After the return of Hong Kong in 1997, the museum connected with Hong Kong
Song Qingling Child Foundation, arranging more than 100 Hong Kong students of
Youth Student State History Cultural Instruction Delegation of Hong Kong. In the
first National Day after Hong Kong's return, those students visited Shaanxi History
Museum, understood national historical culture, studied mandarin. The activity
won great replies, and many newspapers gave reports on it, such as Hong Kong Grand
Duke Newspaper, China Tourism Newspaper, Shaanxi Tourism Newspaper, Sanqin City
Newspaper, Shaanxi Foreign Affairs.
3.Combing helping the poor and
aiding study with pictures to countryside
To fulfill the spirit of
Bureau of State Relics on pictures to the countryside, in October 1997, the museum
walked out, walked into Tianzhong Village, Shuangmiaoling Town, Shangnan County,
which located in Qinling Mountain, a place of intercross of three provinces and
eight counties. The village was our object of helping the poor. While contributing
on repairing the road, giving clothes and other articles, contributing on helping
the poor to study, the museum propagandized relic history and law to all people,
especially the students. The local government and educational organization gave
appraise on the activity.
4. Choosing different theme, holding activities
of summer camp and winter camp
In 1996, the museum held middle students'
"Shaanxi History Museum Cup" relic historical knowledge contest and
summer camp activities to restore the grand wonder of Han and Tang dynasties.
In Xi'an city, over 6,000 students of 40 schools attended the contest. For all
competitors, more than 50 won the prize, and went to Beijing the capital of China,
attended the summer camp activities of 8 days to "restore the grand wonder
of Han and Tang dynasties."
1999 was the year of alternation of
old and new centuries. When 21 century was coming, the museum held summer camp
activity of "Hugging 21 Century" in Yan'an city. More than 30 excellent
middle school students of Yanta District attended the activity.
In
2000, one year after the release of the great summon of developing the west by
the Party, the museum organized students of about 10 colleges in Xi'an, holding
the summer camp activities of "Loving Our West" to Gangsu, and Xining
city.
In February 2002, the museum held winter camp activity of "Feeling
Pottery Art" to Taoyi Village of Fuping County. The members were consisted
of college volunteers and pupils of the museum. Through spot visit, theoretical
study, practical operation, all students felt the wisdom of our ancestors and
long history of China.
In December 2002, the museum held "Visiting
the Native Place of Zhou" winter camp activities to Baoji, and Yangling city.
The members were volunteers enrolled in the museum.
5.Holding subject
lectures
In memorial activities of World Museum Day "May 18th",
Youth Day "May 4th", "Law of Cultural Relics" Propagandizing
Day, the museum held subject lectures on "Development of World Museum and
China Museum", "Features of China Historical Culture", and "Characteristics
of Shaanxi Historical Culture" in College of Culture and Museology of Northwest
University, and College of Tourism Environment of Shaanxi Normal University.
6.Delivering relic pictures to campuses
For sake of enriching
the content of campus cultural saloon, 1998 and 1999, in Xi'an University of Architecture
& Technology, 2001 in Northwest Polytechnical University, the museum utilized
relic pictures and propaganda board of Law of Cultural Relics, letting students
from other provinces knowing the cultural advantages of Shaanxi and China historical
culture, which all enriched the campus life of college students.
